Best practice frameworks such as ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library) are likely to see a surge of interest in the coming year as businesses turn to process automation as a way of reducing costs.
A report produced by analyst IDC has revealed that 50 per cent of European organisations will automate to offset expected headcount reductions, a move that will require processes to be tightly defined as prescribed by the likes of ITIL. In the UK, one-third of the polled admit that staff cuts are likely to take place. Larger businesses are predicted to invest most heavily in automation, but small and medium-sized organisations are also very keen to develop their capabilities in this respect.
Do you think that businesses will take the sensible, ITIL-led approach to automation, or just try to automate broken processes for short term gains? Â Have your say below.
