Let the good times roll
IT services providers are set for a bumper 2010 as 85 per cent of organisations pledge to increase or maintain their spending on external service providers as the economic recovery continues.
Research by analyst Gartner also shows that more than three-quarters of the businesses surveyed are confident that the recession is over, with most seeing an upsurge in activity which started in 2009 continuing into this year.
Allie Young, vice president at Gartner says the recession has changed IT service buying patterns, resulting in a more cautious and results-driven attitude. “In terms of IT services spending, the recession has been clearly felt by organisations, which report the following changes in their behaviours: increased contract re-negotiations with ESPs, greater influence of the CFO and procurement in IT services spending, and increased levels of offshore services usage. However, the good news for service providers going forward is that the majority of buyers of IT and business process services will increasingly turn to ESPs to support the execution of their IT strategies.”
