Cybercriminals get Active
New flaw exposes Microsoft security weakness which allows rogue code to be uploaded.
Finjin, a provider of web security software, has reported that cybercriminals are exploiting a code defect in Microsoft’s widely used Video Active X Control.
The Active X software, which allows code to be run independently of the operating system, has a vulnerability which allows hackers to add rogue code to the victim PC. Typically, this will be a data-stealing Trojan that could capture personal information and passwords which could be used for identity fraud.
