Users become the new IT power brokers
Tech-savvy users are wrestling power from IT departments when it comes to deciding how to spend on technology innovations.
A report from the Yankee Group says that with users becoming more connected in their personal lives, their technological literacy is increasing expectations within the workplace of what IT can achieve.
“Gone are the days when IT departments were the sole drivers of demand for new technology. Today, consumers and workers are driving demand and pushing technology into enterprises, shifting trillions of dollars in business with them in the process,” commented Gigi Wang, chief research officer at Yankee Group.
