Retailers that fail to embrace mobile sales channels risk potentially losing out on sales, with a study from Juniper predicting that that goods purchased via smartphones will increase by almost 50 per cent over the next two years.
The report identifies that growth will be driven by greater confidence in mobile devices for browsing and buying products. However, Juniper warns that development of the channel may be constrained by those organisations failing to optimise and invest in mobile channels.
“Consumers increasingly expect to be able to buy their products and services via their smartphones and tablets. Companies which do not offer this option face falling behind their competitors,” says report author Dr. Windsor Holden.
