Attempts to break IT out of its silo mentality by using collaboration tools are failing, with 40 per cent of SharePoint implementations unused.
The study, carried out by Fujitsu, found that although adoption of collaboration technology is widespread, IT managers have doubts about its ability to produce cost savings and lack understanding of how to deploy and measure it successfully.
Managers said that information existing in multiple places is difficult to share across organisations, and fear that poorly collated information leads to bad decision-making. They also question the productivity of distributed or virtual teams.

Working within a public sector organisation trying to cope with large budget cuts, we are hoping to get as much as we can out of the assets we already have, Sharepoint bring one of these.
Where can I find a copy of the Fujitsu study or further information on the 40 percent of Sharepoint implementations that are not being used?
David,
If you’re happy for me to pass on your email address, I can get someone from Fujitsu to contact you?
Best of luck with the budget juggling; everyone seems to be in the same boat right now.
