IT departments must deliver multiple priorities into the business without any increase in resources or budgets over the next year according to Gartner.

The analyst found that IT budgets worldwide will only grow on average by 0.5 per cent, with those in Europe and North America set to decrease.  However, the technical priorities of those polled; analytics and business intelligence, mobile technologies, and cloud computing, need to be met without any increase in capital.

“Present economic conditions may tempt CIOs to force IT back into cost-cutting mode, but senior executives expect technology — and this includes IT — to address the tough challenges by amplifying enterprise strategies and operations,” says Gartner vice president Mark McDonald.
