IBM is throwing a lifeline to IT teams struggling to incorporate users’ technology into the business by launching an outsourcing service called Hosted Mobile Device Management.

Covering Android, Blackberry, Apple iOS, Symbian and Windows mobile technologies, the service offers protection against data loss, unauthorised access, viruses, malware, and inappropriate applications, and is available as a hosted service.

“The BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) trend creates real opportunity for employees to become more productive, but it also carries risk unless it is managed properly.  The new service from IBM helps organizations protect their enterprise data while allowing employees to have the flexibility needed for today’s work environment,” said IBM vice president Marisa Viveros.
