The acquisition by BMC of Aeroprise is designed to address peaking interest in the mobile element of service management and the consumerisation of business technology.
Aeroprise, which provides service management software which runs on iPad, iPhone, Blackberry and Android devices, has been rebranded as BMC Mobility for IT Service Management. It will allow BMC service management customers to manage service desk, change, asset, service catalogue and requests on the most popular smart devices. BMC believes harnessing these technologies will lead to increased efficiency and give its customers a competitive advantage.
“With more than two-thirds of all U.S. business workers considered mobile, IT service management applications with mobile capabilities will greatly improve the adoption of self-service within enterprises,” says Rohit Gupta, BMC’s vice president.
