Software problems are causing misery across the country with almost two-thirds of the UK workforce regularly left unable to do their jobs due to IT downtime.

36 per cent of those polled by Bomgar experience downtime at least once a week, with almost a quarter stating that IT issues occur at the time-critical periods of first thing Monday morning, or late on a Friday as staff prepare to leave for the weekend.

However, half of the respondents display the Dunkirk spirit by continuing work using personal mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers.

“Poor technology or routine IT crashes at work might mean that important deadlines are missed, productivity is lost and, ultimately, corporate reputation is damaged,” says Bomgar general manager Stuart Facey.
