Short-sighted NFC thwarts innovation
Near Field Communications (NFC) has myriad useful applications beyond contact-less payment, with a report from industry analyst Forrester identifying how the savvy IT departments can exploit it to enhance other business applications.
As previously reported on ServiceDesk360, the retail industry is showing caution with implementing NFC. However Forrester believes that the technology can be used for immersive and tailored marketing before, during, and after point of sale, and also as a method of authentication and identity management.
“NFC will also expand into other consumer and workforce connected devices, facilitating content and app sharing and cross-device experiences,” says Forrester principal analyst Thomas Husson.
