More than half of service desk managers in the public sector believe that their role will not change under the government’s proposition to cut spending by 20 per cent, according to a survey carried out by RMS Services. The research, carried out at this years Service Desk and IT support Show, also found that almost half of staff in both the private and public sector contact IT support the moment an issue arises rather than attempting to rectify it themselves or ask a colleague. RMS Services says these figures indicate that the service desk is one of the more secure functions in the public sector. “The findings show that despite the turbulent times forecast for the public sector, IT skills and services will still remain very much in demand,” said RMS Services Christine Headford. |
